Wildcat softball team in 5-0 victory at Garner

The No. 3 ranked Humboldt softball team improved to 5-0 overall on the season Thursday night (May 31) by shutting down Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, 5-0. Ellie Jacobson pitched a no-hitter to lead the Wildcats. She struck out 12 and walked just one. Humboldt's eight-hit batting attack was led by Rachel Darling, who was 3-for-4. Carlie Thompson was 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI.

Humboldt moved to 2-0 in conference play by edging Fort Dodge St. Edmond, 2-1 Wednesday night (May 30) in Fort Dodge.

Ellie Jacobson pitched seven innings of 6-hit ball with six strikeouts. Humboldt backed her up with nine hits at the plate, led by Carlie Thompson who was 3-for-4. Jacobson also had two hits for the Wildcats.

Humboldt returns home on Friday, June 1, to host Clear Lake in another key conference game. The Humboldt triangular is Saturday, June 1, with Mason City and Eagle Grove.
