The Humboldt varsity baseball team picked up another big North Central Conference win at home on Wednesday night (June 13) by holding off Webster City, 7-6 in seven innings. Cade Witzke's run-scoring single up the middle scored the go-ahead run to lift Humboldt over the Lynx, who were previously unbeaten in conference play. Humboldt led 4-1 after six innings before Webster City scored five runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-4 lead. The Wildcats responded by plating three in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win. Humboldt improved to 8-8 overall on the season, 4-2 in the NCC.

Humboldt traveled to Spirit Lake on June 14 and fell to the Indians, 6-5 in seven innings. The loss moved Humboldt to 8-9 over on the season. Hudson Gargano and Jacob Thurm each had two hits at bat to lead the Wildcats' six-hit attack. Thurm pitched the first five innings before Gargano entered in the fifth. Gargano was tagged with the loss.

Humboldt got back on the winning track Monday night (June 11) after a three-day layoff by ripping Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 16-4 in a North Central Conference game in Clarion. Humboldt scored nine runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach. Owen Newton homered and drove in three runs to lead Humboldt's 12-hit attack.
