Wildcat girls top Carroll, fall to Lisbon

The No. 4 ranked Humboldt softball team moved to 18-2 overall on the season after splitting two games at home on Saturday, June 16. The Wildcats defeated Carroll, 6-3, and fell to Lisbon, 2-0. Lisbon also beat Carroll, 4-3. Humboldt will play host to Fort Dodge St. Edmond on Monday, June 18.

Humboldt edged Southeast Valley, 3-2 in Humboldt on June 15. Ellie Jacobson pitched a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts and Jori Hajek homered to lead the Wildcats.

Humboldt had no trouble in shutting out Forest City, 10-0 in five innings on June 14 in high school softball in Humboldt. The Wildcats got a one-hitter from pitcher Ellie Jacobson and collected 12 hits at bat. Carlie Thompson went 3-for-4 at the plate and Jacobson was 3-for-3 to lead the Wildcats.

Humboldt softball team split two games with Webster City at home on Wednesday night (June 13) and suffered their first loss of the season in the process. In a rain-makeup from May 25, the Wildcats lost 2-1 to the Lynx. HHS had eight hits and 2 errors in the game. The Wildcats came back and won the second game, 9-7. Ellie Jacobson earned the win pitching with six strikeouts. Humboldt slugged 14 hits as Jacobson was 3-for-4 at bat with a double. Mady Lange and Kendal Clark each had 2 hits for the Wildcats, who moved to 8-1 in conference play.

Humboldt made it a season sweep of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Monday night (June 11), posting a 9-0 shutout over the Cowgirls in a North Central Conference game at Clarion. Ellie Jacobson pitched seven innings of five-hit ball with nine strikeouts. Jori Hajek was 2-for-4 at bat for Humboldt.
