Show ring appreciation dinner shows off new structure

The Humboldt County Fair Board hosted a ribeye sandwich dinner on Sunday night for those who have contributed to the new show ring at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. Those attending are pictured in the center of the new 72’ by 88’ show ring. The 2018 Humboldt County Fair kicks off on Tuesday, July 24. Humboldt Independent photo.

Those who helped make the new show ring at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds become a reality helped celebrate the beautiful new facility on Sunday evening, July 15.
The Humboldt County Fair Board invited donors to the project to see the new show ring and enjoy a ribeye sandwich dinner.
The new show ring structure measures 72’ by 88’ while the show ring itself measures 44’ by 72’ and has a 14’ high ceiling. The old show ring structure, built in the early 1960s, measured 40’ by 56’ with a nine-foot ceiling height.
No longer are there support poles blocking the view for spectators. In fact, new accessible aluminum bleachers provide elevated seating for 400 people. There’s new LED lighting, ceiling fans, and a new sound system.
