Over $5,000 raised for Humota via hot dogs

Joyce and Jim Crabtree, owners of V&S Variety in downtown Humboldt, were one of several businesses that showed their support for the community effort to purchase and operate the Humota Theatre by having a hot dog stand at the Humboldt/Dakota City Chamber of Commerce's Hot Dogs for the Humota event in downtown Humboldt on Aug. 29. It's obvious the Crabtrees are "Top Dogs." Humboldt Independent photo.

The Humota Movie Group was very pleased with the turnout and financial support from the community during the Hot Dogs for the Humota fundraiser held Wednesday, Aug. 29.
The fundraiser, sponsored by the Humboldt/Dakota City Chamber of Commerce, raised $5,841.16 to keep the theatre operating.
There were about one dozen food stands offering hot dogs and other food items and drinks for a goodwill donation.
The winning hot dog stand for the best theme was CDTA and Computer Works and Vinyl Signs, who pulled their efforts for a Willy Wonka themed stand.
The Humota Movie Group steering committee is now actively seeking names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of people who would be interested in serving on a Board of Directors. That information should be e-mailed to Humotamoviegroup@gmail.com. Any person without a computer or e-mail access who would like to serve may leave their information with Sarah Vanord at the Humota Theatre at (515) 332-5921.
