Wildcat boys 1st, girls 4th in Eagle Grove Invitational

Humboldt's boys placed first while the girls were fourth in a strong field of schools in the Dick Bell Invitational Cross Country meet at Eagle Grove on Oct. 2.

The boys totaled 39 points to outrun runner-up Charles City, which had 61 points. Quinton Orr was first individually overall to pace Humboldt with a time of 16:58. Joe Kunert was third in 17:19 and Devon Coon ninth in 18:03. Eric Wittrock ran 10th in 18:07.

Bryce Gidel was first overall in 18:58 to lead the girls race. Elizabeth Hildreth was 17th in 22:06 and Isabella Luu 19th in 22:17. Kirstyn Beaman was 21st in 22:23.
Humboldt totaled 84 points in the team scoring. Charles City was first with 37, followed by Spencer with 63 and Gilbert at 79.

Humboldt will now prepare for the North Central Conference meet at Mayne's Grove south of Hampton on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
