Humboldt High sophomore distance sensation Quinton Orr finished second overall to lead the Humboldt High boys' cross country team to a ninth-place finish in the team scoring of the Class 3A State Cross Country Championships held on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Lakeside Golf Course north of Fort Dodge.

Orr finished in 16:10, seven seconds behind first-place Cody Mertens of Mount Pleasant. Humboldt senior Joe Kunert was 29th in 17:11 while Eric Wittrock was 75th in 17:44. Devon Coon clocked 18:07 to finish 102nd and Noah Helmer was 106th in 18:10. Nolan Jergens ran 114th, in 18:25 and Calvin Carlson was 126th in 19:22.
