Humboldt wrestlers win opener at Estherville, 45-29

Humboldt's varsity wrestling team opened their dual season at Estherville Thursday night (Nov. 29) by pinning the Midgets, 45-29 in a non-conference bout.

Humboldt got pins from Timmy Larson at 138, Joey Busse at 152 and Justin Jones at 285. The Wildcats also collected wins from Levi Naeve at 160 (9-3 decision), Cole Nelson at 106 (forfeit), Joel Osborn at 195 (forfeit), Logan Nilles at 170 (forfeit) and Cresten Craven at 120 (forfeit).

Humboldt will host the Joe Fitch Invitational today (Friday, Nov. 30) inside the Wildcat gym starting at 4:30 p.m.

Humboldt has a busy slate next week as they host a quad on Dec. 4 with Ridge View, South Central Calhoun and East Sac. The Wildcats visit Iowa Falls on Dec. 6 for a conference matchup with Iowa Falls-Alden and Algona. Humboldt will be at the Ogden Duals on Dec. 8.
