Wrestlers crown 4 champs, place 2nd in Joe Fitch Invitational

Humboldt crowned four individual champions and placed runner-up in the team scoring of the Joe Fitch Invitational Tournament held Friday, Nov. 30 in Humboldt.

The Wildcats finished with 256.5 team points to finish behind champion Emmetsburg, which totaled 281. Atlantic was third with 256 points. Sheldon/South O'Brien was fourth with 175, followed by Forest City at 121, Carroll Kuemper at 101.5, Pocahontas Area with 91 and Aplington-Parkersburg with 72.

For Humboldt Joey Busse (152), Justin Jones (285), Cresten Craven (120) and Joel Osborn (195) all went undefeated to finish first at their respective weights. Cole Nelson was second at 106. Jordan Jensen was second at 132 and Colten Goodell was second at 220. Levi Naeve was third at 160 while fourth went to Colby Clarken at 126, Tyler Vitzthum at 145 and Walt DeLanoit at 220. Timmy Larson was fifth at 138 pounds, along with Fletcher Satern at 145 and Logan Nilles at 170. Sixth place went to Lucas Volf at 182, DJ Muir at 120, Tanner McKimmey at 160 and Joey Weydert at 138. Gage Prenger was eighth at 113.

Humboldt will host a four-team quad on Dec. 4, which will include Ridge View, South Central Calhoun and East Sac County.
