Humboldt boys stop Algona, 65-61

Jacob Thurm poured in 18 points, Calvin Carlson scored 16, Jamison Heinz made 11 and Sam Fischer added 10 to power the Humboldt Wildcat boys' basketball team to a 65-61 victory over Algona Friday night (Dec. 7) in a North Central Conference opener for both teams. The Wildcats also got six points from Jack Arndt and three from Matt Miller. Collin Bleich scored 22 to power Algona. Spencer Holmes was next with 10. Spencer Simpson and Spencer Nelson each had nine.

Humboldt improved to 2-1 overall on the young season, 1-0 in league play.

The Wildcats return to action at Eagle Grove on Monday, Dec. 10, and visit Hampton on Dec. 11 before returning home to host Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Dec. 14.
