Humboldt's hopes of qualifying for the Class 2A state dual team tournament fell short Tuesday night (Feb. 5) as the Wildcat wrestling team was defeated by Carlisle, 44-24 in a regional dual in Atlantic. The loss ends Humboldt's dual season at 25-4 overall.

Top-ranked Prairie City-Monroe downed Harlan, 38-33 in the other semifinal match. PCM beat Carlisle later to determine a spot in the state tournament to be held Feb. 13 in Des Moines. With four regulars out of their lineup, Humboldt got wins from Justin Jones at 285, Cole Nelson at 106, Cresten Craven at 120 and Joel Osborn at 195.
