Humboldt wrestlers advance 4 to state tournament!

The Humboldt wrestling team qualified four individuals for this week's Class 2A State Tournament after competing in a district meet in Clear Lake on Saturday (Feb. 9).

Humboldt, which had eight district qualifiers, got an individual title from top-ranked Joey Busse at 145 pounds and runner-up finishes by Justin Jones at 285, Joel Osborn at 195 and Cole Nelson at 106 pounds.

The Wildcats' Levi Naeve (160) and Cresten Craven (120) finished third and just missed qualifying after losing in the wrestle back round. Colby Clarken was fourth at 126 and Jordan Jensen was fourth at 132 for Humboldt.

The individual state tournament begins on Thursday, Feb. 14, inside Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. 2A action will start at 6 p.m.
