It was a record-setting year for the Humboldt wrestling team.
The Wildcats set a school record for most dual meet wins in a season at 25. Team and individual awards highlighted the squad’s potluck dinner banquet held on Mar. 7 at the high school cafeteria.
Humboldt head coach Chad Beaman presided over the event and distributed awards with help from his assistants Justin McDaniel, Luke Satern and Cordes Olthoff.
Humboldt ended the year with a 25-4 overall dual meet record, including 6-1 and tied for first in the North Central Conference.
Individually the Wildcats had one conference champion in senior 145-pounder Joey Busse, who went on to finish the year with a 47-0 record and claim the Class 2A state championship.
