Wildcat girls win inaugural indoor track opener

The first annual Nielsen Family Indoor Track Meet at the new Humboldt Recreation Center was a big success on Tuesday (Mar. 12) as the Humboldt High girls' track team claimed the team title in the four-team meet.

The Wildcats totaled 90.5 points to outdistance runner-up Gilbert (79). Pocahontas Area (22.5) and Webster City (11) round out the team scoring.

Humboldt got first-place finishes from Paige DeWinter in the 200-meters, Lily Groat in the 60-meter hurdles, Brett Harklau in the 800-meters, Bryce Gidel in the 3,000-meters, Kendal Clark in the shot put, the 4x60 shuttle hurdle relay and the 1,600-meter distance medley relay.

Next action will be a coed indoor meet on Thursday, Mar. 21. The Wildcat boys will hold their own indoor meet on Friday, Mar. 15.
