Humboldt native and second-year Iowa State University head wrestling coach Kevin Dresser was named National Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association on Tuesday (March 19).
Dresser, who was named Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year two weeks ago, has guided the Cyclones to a 10-4 dual record this past season, 6-2 in the Big 12 Conference. ISU has qualified nine wrestlers into this week's NCAA Division I National Championships in Pittsburgh.

Dresser, who spent 11 years leading Virginia Tech University and was named National Coach of the Year three seasons ago, has quickly turned the Iowa State program around after he was hired in late-February of 2017. During the regular season, the Cyclones placed third at the Southern Scuffle, which was their first top-four performance at a national tournament since the 2014 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
