Gidel runs 5th in state 3,000 meters

Humboldt's Bryce Gidel ran fifth in the 3,000 meter run on the opening day of the Class 3A Girls State Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines on Thursday (May 16).

Gidel finished with a time of 10:49.05.

The Wildcats' Kendal Clark placed 15th in the discus with a throw of 109-6 and Carlie Thompson was 22nd in the 100 meter dash in 13.49.

Paige DeWinter ran 20th in the 200 meter dash in 27.29 seconds.

Humboldt's shuttle hurdle relay of Jori Hajek, Claire Varangkounh, Kailee Dettmann and Lily Groat finished 21st in 1:11.98.

Humboldt stands 12th in 3A team scoring after day one. Action continues Friday morning at 9 a.m.
