Orr 3rd in 3,200 meters, Miller 5th in 400

Quinton Orr ran third in the 3,000 meter run and Matt Miller blazed to a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters on the opening day of the Class 3A Boys Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Orr finished with a time of 9:45.59 while Miller ran 49.88 seconds in a very fast field of athletes. Humboldt stood in seventh in the team scoring with 7 points.

The Wildcats' Jamison Heinz made the finals in the 200 meter dash in 22.64 seconds. The Wildcats' shuttle hurdle relay finished third in their heat but were disqualified when a runner fell and went under a hurdle.

Humboldt's 4x800 relay ran 11th overall in 8:15.26. The quartet includes Calvin Carlson, Joseph Kunert, Noah Helmer and Eric Wittrock.
