Heinz 2nd in state long jump

Jamison Heinz finished second in the long jump to highlight Humboldt's efforts on the second day of the Class 3A State Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines on Friday, May 17.

Heinz, despite competing in a driving rain, jumped 21-feet 6.25 inches to finish right behind first-place Keyvontre Clark of Sioux City Heelan (21-7.25).

In Humboldt's other entries, Joey Busse placed 20th in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.02 seconds.

The Wildcat quartet of Heinz, Cale Hundertmark, Tyler Vitzthum and Matt Miller finished 11th in the 4x100 relay.

Justin Jones was 11th in the shot put in 49-9.5 and Owen Terwilliger was 14th in the shot put with a heave of 47-11.5.

The final day begins on Saturday, May 18, starting at 8 a.m.
