Humboldt girls fall in regional soccer opener, 3-1

Humboldt's record-setting soccer season came to an end Tuesday night (May 28) in a 3-1 loss to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in the first round of regional tournament play.

In the match played in Humboldt, the two teams battled to a scoreless tie at the end of regulation. The scoreless deadlock remained after two overtime sessions, forcing a third overtime where each team had five free kicks. GHV scored on its first three tries while Chase Rice was the only Wildcat to score on her attempt.

The loss ends Humboldt's season at 11-6 overall. The 11 victories is a school record for most wins in a season.
