No. 2 Humboldt girls move to 8-0 overall

The No. 2 ranked Humboldt softball team (Class 3A) moved to 8-0 overall on the season on June 1 by stopping Mason City (2-0) and Eagle Grove (7-6) in Humboldt.

Ellie Jacobson pitched a 2-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the Wildcats' victory over Mason City. Carlie Thompson went 2-for-3 at bat, including a home run, to power Humboldt's 6-hit attack.

In the second game with Eagle Grove, Jacobson and Kyah Arnold combined from the pitching circle while Humboldt clubbed 11 hits at the plate.

HUMBOLDT 5, OGDEN 0
Humboldt shutout the Ogden Bulldogs, 5-0 Friday night (May 31) in Humboldt in non-conference play. Wildcat pitcher Ellie Jacobson scattered 3 hits and struck out 12. Humboldt backed her up with seven hits, including two of her own with a double and 2 RBI. Mady Lange doubled in a run for Humboldt.

WILDCAT SOFTBALL TEAM BLANKS CARDINALS, 7-0
Humboldt scored all 7 of its runs in the second inning en route to a 7-0 shutout victory over Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Thursday night (May 30) in Humboldt in non-conference softball. HHS pitcher Ellie Jacobson threw a no-hitter and struck out 16 to power the Wildcats. Jori Hajek hit a grand slam home run to lead the Wildcats, who improved to 5-0 overall.

WILDCATS POUND FDSE, 12-0
Jori Hajek homered and doubled and Kendal Clark drove in three runs to power the Humboldt softball team past Fort Dodge St. Edmond, 12-0 in five innings on May 29 at Fort Dodge.

Ellie Jacobson struck out nine and walked just one for Humboldt in a North Central Conference opener for both teams. Humboldt backed her up with 14 hits.

Humboldt will travel to Hampton on Monday, June 3, to face Hampton-Dumont-CAL in conference action.
