BREAKING NEWS: Arrest made in Goldfield shooting


Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger and HCSO deputies were part of an investigation Tuesday night into a shooting in Goldfield. Rich Crawford of Goldfield was identified as the victim. He was located early Tuesday evening and taken to Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, treated and released. Bobby Hernandez, 48, of Renwick, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with willful injury and felon in possession of a firearm, both class D felonies.

An arrest has been made in the Tuesday, June 4, shooting in the town of Goldfield. Bobby Hernandez, 48, of Renwick, was arrested on Wednesday, June 5 in Humboldt County on two Wright County arrest warrants.
On Tuesday at about 5 p.m., the Eagle Grove Police Department responded to 722 N. Pine Street in Goldfield on the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located only a witness to the shooting. Officers later located the victim, Rich Crawford, 38, walking on a gravel road in rural Goldfield, east of Renwick. Crawford was taken to Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, where he was treated and released for treatment of a gunshot wound to the chest. The bullet reportedly went into the chest at an angle and exited through Crawford's arm.
The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation was asked to assist and determined Crawford was in an altercation with a male, later determined to be Hernandez.
Hernandez is being held in the Wright County Jail in Clarion on charges of willful injury and felon in possession of a firearm, both class D felonies. Hernandez is being held on $10,000 cash only bond.
Agencies involved in the investigation and arrest included the Eagle Grove Police Department, Wright County Sheriff's Office, Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.
