Mutual appreciation was shared and in the end, another gift from the city of Humboldt to the Humota Movie Group, the non-profit entity running the Humota Theater.
Humota Movie Group President Chad Theesfeld spoke to the Humboldt City Council on Monday night, reporting on last Saturday’s Humota fundraiser concert with Jason Brown and Neil Hewitt.
While the weather forced a location change and definitely put a damper on a pre-summer outdoor concert, Theesfeld said things went as well as expected given the circumstances and the Board was pleased with the amount of funds raised and the community support.
Between pre-concert donations, ticket sales and other funds raised Saturday, the local group took in just shy of $56,000.
Theesfeld said the amount should carry the Humota Movie Group through the rest of the year for fundraising.
“We are vey supportive and impressed with the success of your group and what it is doing for the community,” Humboldt Mayor Dan Scholl said.
After some discussion, Council member John Sleiter moved to donate $5,000 from the TV franchise fund for 2018-19, and then look at another donation for 2019-20.
