No. 3 Humboldt girls roll, 10-0, Jacobson wins 100th

Humboldt pitcher Ellie Jacobson won her career 100th victory Wednesday night (July 3) to lead the No. 3 ranked Wildcat softball team past Iowa Falls-Alden, 10-0 in Humboldt. Jacobson fanned 12 and allowed 1 hit and 1 walk for Humboldt, which improved to 24-2 overall, 11-1 in the North Central Conference.

Carlie Thompson was 3-for-5 at bat to lead Humboldt's 14-hit attack. Kendal Clark homered and Jori Hajek tripled.

Humboldt 2, FDSE 0
Humboldt turned back Fort Dodge St. Edmond, 2-0 on Tuesday (July 2) in another NCC game. The game began at 2 p.m. in Fort Dodge but was moved to Humboldt after thunderstorm delays and finished in the evening on Wildcat Field. Ellie Jacobson pitched a 3-hitter with 12 strikeouts and also hit an RBI double. Kendal Clark singled in a run for HHS.

Wildcats 9, Cowgirls 0
The No. 3 ranked Humboldt softball team picked up another North Central Conference win Monday night (July 1) in Humboldt, shutting out Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 9-0 in seven innings.

Wildcat pitcher Ellie Jacobson pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 16. Kyah Arnold was 2-for-4 at bat with a home run. Bae Arnold, Carlie Thompson and Claire Varangkounh each had two hits for Humboldt.

The Wildcats will host Webster City in a key clash for first-place in the conference on Friday, July 5. A win over the Lynx would clinch a tie for the conference title. A loss would give the Lynx the outright league title.

Humboldt wraps up its regular season at home on July 8 against Clear Lake, before hosting Sheldon in a first round regional tournament game in Humboldt on July 10.
