The Humboldt High softball team won its fourth straight North Central Conference championship Monday night (July 8) by shutting out Clear Lake, 10-0 in five innings in Humboldt in a regular season finale for both schools.

Ashlyn Clark went 3-for-3 at bat, including a 2-run home run in the second inning to power the Wildcats' 12-hit attack. Kendal Clark was 2-for-3 with 3 RBI and Carlie Thompson was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI to lead Humboldt.

Junior pitcher Ellie Jacobson allowed just one Clear Lake hit while striking out eight, walking two and hitting one batter as Humboldt captured the league title in outright fashion to finish on top of the league standings at 13-1.

Humboldt, 27-2 overall, will begin Class 3A regional tournament play at home on Wednesday, July 10, in a 7:30 p.m. game with Sheldon. The first game Wednesday night in Humboldt has Algona meeting Estherville-Lincoln Central.
