As Humboldt County Memorial Hospital (HCMH) enters a new decade and prepares for its 50th anniversary in 2020, a sweeping testament to the growing need for health care services is evidenced by the 40,000 square foot, two-story addition to the east of the existing hospital.
Primary construction work on the new addition will be completed this Friday, July 26. That will be moving day, and the new UnityPoint Clinic — Family Medicine on the ground floor of the new addition, will begin seeing patients on Monday, July 29 at 8 a.m.
HCMH Chief Executive Officer Michelle Sleiter said she is excited about serving patients in the new space and the additional and improved services it will provide.
“I see us as one team (HCMH and UnityPoint). One of my jobs is to understand what we can do better and how we can grow. From a patient perspective having everything under one roof means a lot and from a business hat perspective it’s a referral pattern to keep our patients within network,” Sleiter said.
