When Jessica Goodenow began searching for an administrative position at the elementary school level last spring, the Gilmore City-Bradgate position that was advertised easily stood out.
Now, four months later, Goodenow is excited to begin the school year as the new elementary principal/daycare director of the school.
Goodenow began her new duties on July 29 and has been working with staff in preparation for the new school year, which begins on Aug. 23.
“The Gilmore City-Bradgate position came up and I felt like this was a perfect fit for me where my whole family can come to school with me each day,” Goodenow said. “From my son, my oldest, who is eight, to my 1-year-old son. We can all hop into my van and come to school each day and be in the same building.”
Goodenow comes to GCB after an 11-year tenure teaching at the middle school and elementary levels in the Tipton School District near Iowa City. Her husband, Cole, will also be teaching at GCB this year.
“The small town setting was a real pull for us in this area,” Goodenow said. Read more about the Goodenows in this week's Humboldt Independent. Subscribe by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
