Humboldt sports teams begin their seasons this week

Humboldt High fall sports teams will begin their seasons this week.

The Wildcat cross country teams will run in the Iowa Falls-Alden Invitational on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Mayne's Grove recreation area south of Hampton on Highway 65. Action begins at 6 p.m. with the girls race, followed by the boys race. JV and varsity will run altogether.

Humboldt's ninth grade football team will open their season at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at Algona. The varsity game will kickoff at 7 p.m. It was originally slated for 7:30 p.m.

Humboldt's volleyball squad will open their season at home on Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Humboldt Invitational starting at 9 a.m. The Wildcat 9th grade volleyball team will also start their season on Aug. 31 as they'll compete in the Dike-New Hartford tournament.

Humboldt athletes on the Fort Dodge High swim team will begin their season on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the Ames Invitational.
