After some questions about duties and the ability to handle them, the Humboldt City Council gave verbal approval to a 3 percent rate increase to Dean Kruger in his duties as the city police administrator.
Kruger said the contract between the city of Humboldt and Humboldt County has not been adjusted since July 2017, when it was increased by 2.5 percent. City of Humboldt employees were given a 3 percent raise on July 1.
The city contracts with the county for Sheriff Kruger’s services to serve as the police administrator, a position he has held for the past nine years. The current compensation is $38,437.50.
Humboldt City Administrator Travis Goedken reported that the 3 percent would amount to an increase of $1,153.13, for a total $39,590.63. He reported that the current city budget has $44,500 allotted for contract work for the police department, primarily for Sheriff Kruger’s contract. Goedken said the city’s general fund budget currently has a surplus of $45,920.
