Firefighter Tony hangs it up after 40 years

Tony Hosford is pictured before the 4th of July parade with his grandsons, Levi, Anthony and Jayden.

Tony Hosford recently retired after 40 years on the Humboldt Fire Department, 16 years of which he served as Fire Chief.
Hosford served three years on the Livermore Fire Department before moving to Humboldt in 1979, bringing his grand total to 43 years in the fire service.
Since 2009, he’s also served on the Humboldt Ambulance Service and continues in his role as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).
“I serve to give back to the community. I can still do everything required of a firefighter, but with a bad shoulder and two bad knees it takes a lot longer to recover. We have a good, young department. I decided 40 years was a good round number to retire,” Hosford said.
