Humboldt boys 2nd, girls 3rd in EG's Bell Invite

The Humboldt High boys cross country team finished second in the team scoring and the Wildcat girls were third in the Dick Bell Invitational held in Eagle Grove on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Quinton Orr and Bryce Gidel both finished first individually for the Wildcat teams. Orr ran 16:32 to lead the boys while Gidel ran 19:41 to pace the girls.

Gilbert won both team titles with their boys totaling 37 to top Humboldt, which totaled 51. Gilbert scored 47 points to win the girls race with Emmetsburg second with 84 and Humboldt third with 94.

Kendra Beaman ran 13th in 22:41 and Allison Hoag was 21st in 23:16 for the HHS girls. Brett Harklau was 29th, Grace Smith 32nd, Shelby Hayden 37th and Nora Carlson 63rd.

Eric Wittrock backed Orr with a fifth-place finish in 17:25. Devon Coon was seventh in 17:40. Trevor Jacobson was 18th, Nolan Jergens 22nd, Carter Theesfeld 24th and Jackson Chambers 51st for the Wildcats.

Next action for Humboldt will be the North Central Conference meet at Webster City on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
