Sande leaves legacy of music for local groups

Humboldt Music Boosters President Ramona Kirchhoff (left) was trying hard not to let emotions get the best of her last Friday afternoon, but who could blame her. She had just received word of a $50,000 donation to the Humboldt Music Boosters from the family of the late Jerry Sande. Pictured donating the check are Jerry Sande’s brother and sister, Ron Sande (center) and Linda Arends (right). Humboldt Independent photo.

Jerry Sande had a lifelong love of music.
That love is continuing in the form of generous donations in his memory after his passing.
Jerry Sande passed away Aug. 15, 2018, at the age of 66.
As part of his last will and testament, Jerry Sande remembered his association with the various musical groups that were so important to his life.
He has donated his bassoon to Iowa State University, and provided monetary donations of $15,000 to the Cherokee Symphony, $50,000 to the Humboldt Music Boosters and $100,000 to the Fort Dodge Area Symphony, of which he had been a member for 48 years.
