Bryce Gidel is 1st NCC 4-time champion!!

Humboldt High senior Bryce Gidel secured her name on top of the record books Tuesday evening (Oct. 15) by becoming the first four-time cross country champion in the history of the North Central Conference.

Gidel blazed to a record time of 19:05 to win the individual crown in the NCC meet held at Webster City. She held off Ellie Meyer of IFA/AGWSR (19:15) to win her fourth league title. Gidel helped the Wildcat girls place fourth in the team scoring with 71 points. IFA/AGWSR won with 50 points, followed by Fort Dodge St. Edmond and Algona, who tied with 70. Webster City (123), Clear Lake (155), Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (168) and Hampton-Dumont-CAL (200) round out the team scoring.

Gidel was backed by teammate Allison Hoag, who ran 12th in 22:19 and Kirstyn Beaman, who was 14th in 22:24. Grace Smith was 18th in 22:52. Kali Beaman was 26th in 23:20 and Brett Harklau was 27th in 23:28. Shelby Hayden ran 30th in 23:40.

Next action for the Wildcats will be the state qualifying meet on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Sheldon Park in Humboldt.
