Members of the Humboldt Community Animal Shelter Board of Directors gathered with lead donor Mary Moffitt last Thursday evening at the site of the Moffitt Animal Shelter on 19th Street North, south of Union Cemetery. The Board was overwhelmed by a $250,000 donation announced last week by Moffitt, a California resident who grew up in the Humboldt/Dakota City area. The amount will be enough for the construction of the shelter, which is expected to cost $244,000. Local developer Jim Gronbach will be constructing the building and hopes to have footings poured before the end of the year and to have the building completed by April.
