A reminder that Halloween means dressing up, fun and going door-to-door for candy, it can also be dangerous and deadly. According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, children are more than twice as likely to be struck by a car and killed on Halloween as on any other day of the year. Please drive with caution and advise children to cross at crosswalks, use sidewalks and have a flashlight, cell phone or form of light when trick or treating.
Residents should leave their porch and yard lights on to let trick or treaters know they are home and expecting children.
