Humboldt's Quinton Orr finished second overall to lead the Humboldt boys' cross country team to a 12th-place finish in the Class 3A state championship in Fort Dodge on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Orr, who was leading the race early on, finished runner-up to Nate Mueller of Adel-ADM. Orr finished with a time of 15:52. Mueller ran 15:45. Orr's time was a Humboldt school record.

The rest of the Humboldt lineup had Eric Wittrock 33rd in 17:05, Devon Coon 43rd in 17:14, Trevor Jacobson 78th in 17:56, Carter Theesfeld 88th in 18:16, Nolan Jergens 90th, in 18:23 and Jackson Chambers 102nd in 19:21.

Dallas Center-Grimes won the team title with 109 points, edging Clear Creek-Amana with 110. Humboldt totaled 243 points.
