10 Wildcats named to all-district team

Heinz offensive MVP in 3A-2

Led by Offensive Most Valuable Player Jamison Heinz, the Humboldt High football team had 10 players named all-district by its coaches after the recently-completed 2019 season.
Humboldt’s second-year head coach Derrick Elman made the announcement at the team’s dinner banquet held on Nov. 11 at the high school.
The six-foot, 190-pound Heinz, one of the top rushers in the state in Class 3A, was named the district’s Most Valuable Player on offense after he gained 1,134 yards on 167 carries with 13 touchdowns.
Wildcats joining Heinz on the all-district team include senior linebackers Matt Miller and Carter Krichau, along with junior linebacker Gabe Gidel and junior offensive linemen Colten Goodell and Sam Fischer.
Honorable mention picks from Humboldt include senior defensive back Caiden Baker, senior defensive back Jacob Thurm, senior offensive lineman Logan Nilles and sophomore offensive lineman Ben Kuehnast.
Athletes who earned distinguished academic honors with a grade point average between 3.25 and 4.0 include Thurm, Heinz, Fischer, senior Cameron Beach, senior Grant Kuehnast and junior Zach Frideres.
Earning excellence in academic honors with a GPA of 3.0 to 3.24 includes Baker, Gidel, junior Jordan Jensen, junior Jacob Larrabee and Miller.
