Exceeding expectations is always a good thing.
That’s exactly what the Humboldt Recreation Center (HRC) has done in its first year of operation in Humboldt.
After one year in the books (the Recreation Center) opened on Dec. 3, 2018 with much fanfare and many positive responses from the community.
The brainchild of Ken and Marilyn Nielsen with the large field house inside the 70,000 square foot recreational facility named in their honor, HRC has went above and beyond what Humboldt city leaders thought was possible.
“We currently have over 1,300 memberships from a starting point of 800 memberships. We were confident that the facility would cash flow at 450 members, so to have nearly three times that many is beyond our wildest beliefs,” Humboldt City Administrator Travis Goedken said.
The success is a credit to the staff, the city administrator believes.
Read more about the success story and see more photos of the facility and members using it in this week's Humboldt Independent, now on sale. Subscribe by clicking on the link at the top of this page.
