Wrestlers 3rd in Atlantic tournament

The Humboldt wrestling team had three runner-up finishes and placed 3rd in the 14-team Rollin Dyer Invitational in Atlantic on Saturday, Jan. 11.

The Wildcats got runner-up finishes from Cole Nelson at 106, Cresten Craven at 120 and Colten Goodell at 220. Jordan Jensen was fourth at 138 pounds while fifth-place went to Jase Goodell at 113, Spencer Naeve at 160, Walt DeLanoit at 195 and Logan Nilles at 182. Fletcher Satern was sixth at 152, along with Joe Weydert at 145. Placing eighth was Brady Marsh at 285, Ty Gargano at 132 and Colby Clarken at 126.

Millard South of Omaha Nebraska was the team champion with 251 points. Grand Island Senior was second with 180 and Humboldt totaled 167.5 points for third, just ahead of Sergeant Bluff-Luton which had 165.

Humboldt returns to the mat on Thursday, Jan. 16, when they host Webster City and Fort Dodge St. Edmond in North Central Conference action.
