Gordy’s at Rustix has been purchased and after a remodeling project will reopen as 716 Main. The goal is to open in March.
Jason Rogers, General Manager of 209 Main in Paton, said 716 Main is owned by Vaughn and Lori Bauer of Paton. Rogers is spearheading the effort to remodel and open the new Humboldt restaurant.
“Vaughn and I have been looking, ready to take the concept from Paton on the road. Aaron Lenning, who I knew from our time working together at Wallaby’s in Ames, told us about this place. We fell in love with the space. Everyone I’ve met in Humboldt has been great. It’s just a bigger small town like Paton with great people,” Rogers said.
The menu will be American casual with most menu items made from scratch. A salad bar is being added. A new bar is being constructed to replace the current bar, which will be moved upstairs to the reception area. The concrete bar top will feature a frost rail for holding and keeping drinks cold. The bar is being custom built. The kitchen is being expanded to allow better flow.
716 Main will be open seven days a week. The restaurant will remain open even when the reception side is hosting events. Restaurant hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays (kitchen closes at 11 p.m.). The restaurant will be open on Sundays until 10 p.m., and they are considering adding a Sunday buffet.
Tesa Hoyle will serve as house manager at 716 Main.
