Humboldt High senior Cole Nelson capped an outstanding final year competing for the Wildcat wrestling team by placing third at 106 pounds in the Class 2A state tournament in Des Moines on Saturday (Feb. 22).

Saturday Nelson defeated Lane Scorpil of Columbus Junction and Derrick Bass of Davenport Assumption in the consolation finals to end with a bronze medal.

Nelson closes out his senior year with a 38-7 record. Most of his losses this year have been to the two finalists in Webster City's Camron Phetxoumphone and Greene County's McKinley Robbins.
