A cold-shooting second half spelled doom for the Humboldt boys' basketball team Monday night (Feb. 24) in Clear Lake as the Wildcats fell to Iowa Falls-Alden, 82-61 in a Class 3A first round district tournament game.

Humboldt led 20-14 after the first quarter but went ice cold after that as the Cadets warmed up from the outside with a 42-point second half to advance into Thursday's district final against Clear Lake in Clear Lake, which defeated Boone in Monday's other first round game.

Humboldt, which bows out at 13-9 overall, was led in scoring by Caden Matson with 19 points. Sam Fischer made 15 and Jamison Heinz had 10.

Iowa Falls-Alden was led by Karson Sharar with 24 points. Blake Janssen had 18, Logan Aldinger 16 and Sam Weaver made 14.
