Four finalists for Humboldt/TR superintendent position announced

The Humboldt and Twin Rivers Community School Districts announced the four finalists vying for the superintendent position.
They include:
–Jim Murray, principal at Tilford Elementary School in the Vinton-Shellsburg Community Schools.
–Dr. Kenneth Howard, superintendent at South Hamilton Community Schools.
–Dr. Bill Szakacs, pre-school administrator in the Des Moines Public Schools.
–Dr. Chad Dumas, executive director of elementary education for the Ames Community Schools.
Murray and Howard will be in Humboldt on March 18 for interview sessions and tour the community. Szakacs and Dumas will be in Humboldt on March 20 for their interviews and community visit.
Jeff Herzberg, who is conducting the search for the new superintendent, presented the top 10 candidates to the boards in a closed, special meeting held on March 9. After meeting for nearly two and one-half hours, they came up with their final four candidates.
“It was a very strong pool of 21 full applications from three states and the boards are looking forward to interviewing the finalists next week and offering a contract to the top choice,” Humboldt School Board President Tate Satern said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon.
