Mark Christensen has had a lifelong passion for playing golf and it clearly shows.

The 1980 Humboldt High School graduate, who for 14 years has operated Christensen Golf Academy in Quincy, IL, earned yet another honor last month when he received the 2019 PGA Junior League Program of the Year Award.

One of the top 25 programs in the nation, his academy was the eighth biggest program nationally and the largest in the PGA Gateway Section, which encompasses parts of Illinois and Missouri.

“I was honored because I essentially had a lot of kids,” Christensen said. “I have a really big PGA junior league program for kids ages 6-13. I have teams at three different courses in the Quincy area.”
