Wildcat girls to 9-1 overall

Humboldt’s second ranked softball team topped Des Moines Christian and Perry in the second day of the Boone tournament on Saturday, June 27. The victory moved the Wildcats to 9-1 overall.

Wildcats top Boone, fall to Ogden
Humboldt's softball team split two games in the Boone tournament on Friday, winning 8-4 over Boone and falling 8-0 to Class 2A power Ogden. The split moves Humboldt's record to 7-1 overall.

Ellie Jacobson pitched a five-hitter with nine strikeouts against Boone. Humboldt made 11 hits as Kendal Clark homered, Jori Hajek, Mady Lange and Carlie Thompson each hit a double.

Reagan Lee took the loss pitching in the five-inning game with Ogden. Carlie Thompson was 2-for-3 at bat to lead Humboldt's offense.

HHS girls shutout Garrigan, 4-0
In a battle of rated area teams, the Humboldt softball team shutout Algona Bishop Garrigan, 4-0 in non-conference action in Humboldt on June 25. Humboldt, ranked No. 2 in Class 2A, earned their sixth win of the season while Garrigan, ranked fourth in Class 1A, suffered their second loss.

Wildcats past Lynx in 9-inning thriller, 6-5
Humboldt's second-ranked softball team (Class 3A) moved one step closer to their goal of a North Central Conference title by rallying past Webster City, 6-5 in nine innings on Wednesday night (June 24) in Humboldt. Many Lange's sacrifice fly to left field scored Jori Hajek for the go-ahead run with two out in the bottom of the ninth to lift Humboldt to 5-0 overall, 4-0 in the NCC.

Ellie Jacobson pitched a six-hitter with 13 strikeouts for Humboldt. She also homered, along with Lange and Kendal Clark. The Wildcats had eight hits and no errors.

Humboldt girls blank Bulldogs, 14-0
Humboldt began its second week of the season in strong fashion by shutting out Hampton-Dumont-CAL, 14-0 in 5 innings in Humboldt on Monday night (June 22) in high school softball.

Ellie Jacobson had another dominant performance from the pitching circle as she allowed just one hit, no walks and struck out 14. Reagan Lee homered to help key the Wildcats' 10-hit attack. Kendal Clark was 3-for-4 with a double. Jori Hajek hit two triples. Mady Lange doubled and Jacobson was 2-for-3.
