The No. 2 ranked Humboldt softball team held off the Algona Bulldogs, 4-2 Thursday night (July) to become the outright North Central Conference champions!

The title is a record five straight league championships as the Wildcats move to 13-1 overall, 7-0 in the NCC.

Ellie Jacobson pitched all seven innings and scattered six hits and struck out 10. Humboldt had four hits and no errors.

Jori Hajek hit a leadoff home run in the sixth inning to spark a four-run sixth. She was 2-for-3 on the night. Jacobson and Reagan Lee also hit safely.

Algona scored twice in the top of the seventh but couldn't advance any more runners as Jacobson and her teammates shut the Bulldogs down!

Humboldt will travel to Clear Lake on Friday, July 3, for a matchup with Clear Lake in a contest that will not count toward the league standings.
