Wildcat baseball teams blanks Lions, 3-0

The Humboldt High baseball team moved to 3-0 in the North Central Conference by shutting out the Clear Lake Lions, 3-0 in Clear Lake on July 6.

Humboldt visited Webster City in a key conference clash on July 8 and fell to the Lynx, 5-2. The victory gave the Lynx the outright NCC title.

The Wildcats hosted Algona Bishop Garrigan on Thursday, July 9, and posted a 9-6 victory over the Golden Bears in non-conference action.

Humboldt fell to Spencer, 5-3 in a non-conference home game on July 10.

The Wildcats, 8-5 overall, host Algona on July 13 and visit Storm Lake on July 14 to wrap up their regular season.

Humboldt will host Clear Lake in a Class 3A first round district tournament game on Friday, July 17. the winner of Friday's game will travel to Gilbert on Monday, July 20, to face Gilbert or Iowa Falls-Alden in a district semifinal. The other half of the district has Boone hosting Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Algona visiting Webster City with the district semifinal round game in Boone on July 20. A substate final is set for July 22 at a site to be determined.
