Wildcats edge Lions 4-3 in district opener

Jacob Thurm pitched seven strong innings and Humboldt held off a late rally to upend the Clear Lake Lions, 4-3 Friday night (July 17) in a Class 3A first round district tournament game in Humboldt. Humboldt only needed two hits at the plate to come out on top against their North Central Conference foe.

Humboldt, 10-6 overall, will travel to Gilbert on Monday, July 20, for a district final against the Tigers. Action begins at 7 p.m.
