The Humboldt softball team qualified for the state tournament for the third time in the last four years by shutting out MOC-Floyd Valley, 3-0 on Monday night (July 20) in Humboldt.

The Wildcats got a one-hit pitching performance from Ellie Jacobson, who walked none and struck out 10.

Humboldt totaled five hits at the plate as Kendal Clark homered and Mady Lange doubled. Carlie Thompson, Ellie Jacobson and Alexis Hansen each hit safely for Humboldt, improved to 20-2 overall on the season.

The state softball tournament will be played at Rogers Park in Fort Dodge July 27-31. The Wildcats will play Mount Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on July 27.
