The Humboldt boys' cross country team had too much firepower as they ran away from the field to take the team title in the Algona Invitational on Sept. 28.

The Wildcats finished with 60 team points to easily outdistance runner-up Webster City which had 105. Mason City was third at 111 in the 19-team field of schools.

Quinton Orr and Eric Wittrock again finished 1-2 to lead all runners. Orr finished in 15:43 and Wittrock ran 16:57. Trevor Jacobson checked in fifth at 17:21 and Nolan Jergens was 18th in 18:03. Carter Theesfeld ran 34th in 18:32 to round out Humboldt's top-five counting varsity scores.

The Wildcats return to action on Thursday, Oct. 1, in the Estherville-LC Invitational.
