Salute to area firefighters

Look in this week's Humboldt Independent for a special section honoring area firefighters and recognizing the importance of fire safety and prevention, not just during National Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4-10), but all year long. The Humboldt Fire Department will be conducting Operation Edith, (exit drill in the home) Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. Emergency sirens will sound and residents are asked to practice safely exiting their homes and stay outside until the fire truck passes by.
